Power Station

The whole town was without supply for approximately one and a half hours during this month; cause unknown at this stage. The Operations Coordinator (of unmanned sites) and a Field Technician from enGen came over from Western Australia to inspect and determine the cause of the above outage. Testing and modifications to the high voltage switchboard was carried out as was testing of genset #3 and wind turbine alternators. This was over the duration of three days.

Wind Turbine still not operational due to windings on the alternator to be repaired.

Water Supply

Due to the whole town outage, a trickle charge battery charger had to be replaced because of a capacitor blowing out on the old RO plant; also a battery sensing relay had to be replaced.

A three phase contactor on the new RO plant was replaced due to the contacts being welded together.

FAMILY FIRST WILL BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE BALANCE OF POWER

The Family First Party has announced that should it be in a position to hold the balance  of power following the March 18th election it will ensure that it is used very carefully.  Family First Lead Upper House Candidate Dennis Hood has said that Family First will not act in an obstructionist manner. Governments are elected to Govern and Family First will ensure that this will be the case should it hold the balance of power after the election.

Mr Hood then went onto say that whilst Family First would not be obstructionist they would use their potentially influential position in order to ensure that all Legislation is family friendly.

He said that 90% of the Legislation put forward by the Government he expected to support but that the final 10% was where Family First could make a real difference to improve the lot of families in SA. Mr Hood said that Family First would focus on the following very important policy issues and use their leverage with the Government to pursue these policies should they hold the balance of power.

1. A tougher stance on drugs and tougher penalties for drug pushers.

2. Eliminate Poker machines from SA Pubs and Clubs

3. Take measures to address the GP shortage in SA by paying new medical graduates university debt over several years to ensure they live and practice in SA

4. Ensure criminal activity attracts a sufficient penalty so as to serve as a deterrent to others.

5. Fight to attach a specific Mental Health department to every public hospital in SA.

6. Introduce the teaching of Life Skills in SA schools.

7. Ensure that legislation is enacted to eliminate the use of environmentally harmful, plastic bags in supermarkets and shopping centres.

8. Fight to reduce land tax levels.

9. Fight to reduce stamp duty on the family home.

10. Ensure all legislation upholds mainstream community values.

Mr Hood said that whilst Family First may not hold the balance of power if they do he wanted to assure the people of South Australia that it would be used wisely and carefully and that whichever party was elected to Government they would be allowed to govern. However, Family First would ensure that every act passed was to the benefit of families.

One premise was a follow-up as result of unsatisfactory standards reported from previous inspection that resulted in a letter being written requesting for work to be undertaken otherwise an Improvement Notice under the Food Act will be issued. This matter is in the process of being resolved.

Swimming pools were tested for compliance to Standards. There has been a vast improvement in standard of operation and upgrading pool monitoring equipment since the previous year testing.
