Council knockers please be updated.
The District Council of Coober Pedy has been pulled through a situation where the threat of State Government take-over was imminent. It is now in a normal 'borrowing mode', as far as councils go, and functioning smoothly. Council meetings are run efficiently and conscientiously. The Annual Budget Meeting progressed quickly to a healthy conclusion. Old animosities are a thing of the past. Meetings are businesslike; sometimes 'robust' as the saying goes, but generally respectfully and in good camaraderie. The Mayor, Finance Manager, CEO, councillors, managers and staff are doing what they ought to be doing.
