SA Govt to provide $1.3M for Coober Pedy Airstrip Works

Transport Minister Stephen Mullighan made the announcement on Friday 3 October at the Coober Pedy Airport

The District Council of Coober Pedy will do the work; the runway bitumen will be widened by six meters on either side, taking it from a width of 18 meters to 30 meters.
This will bring the runway into international compliance for current Rex planes.
Rex has announced that, following a recent booking cessation of flights into Coober Pedy because of recent Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) determinations, it is now open again for bookings of flights into Coober Pedy.
CASA is now allowing Rex to land in Coober Pedy on the 18 meter wide strip.
Transport Minister Mulligan said funding will be available as soon as the SA Local Government Minister approves the funding.
